La réglementation en milieu rural

En France, l'assainissement des eaux usées est obligatoire. Il existe deux types d'assainissement : le tout à l'égout qui est un système collectif situé généralement en ville et l'assainissement individuel géré par les particuliers.

L'assainissement individuel

Celui-ci est contrôlé environ tous les quatre ans par la communauté de communes. Mais le problème, c'est que cette installation peut être facilement bouchée ou contenir des produits anti-bactériens qui tueraient celles présentes dans la fosse et qui permettent l'assainissement des eaux. Si le système n'est pas conforme ou est défectueux, le particulier a 4 ans pour le refaire. Mais, une grande majorité de personnes ne font pas les travaux nécessaire en partie à cause du coût élevé. De plus, si les gens ne modifient pas leur installation défectueuse, ils ne peuvent pas être pénalisés sauf si le système fait l'objet d'une longue étude laborieuse. Dans ce cas, la peine peut aller jusqu'à 375 000 euros. Mais c'est très rare.

En France, environ 50 à 60 % des gens ont une installations trop ancienne pour être efficace, 20 % n'ont pas de système du tout, 10 % en ont une acceptable et 10 % de la population a un système conforme.

The regulation in the countryside

When a lot of people live on the countryside near a lake or water and they are not connected to the treatment station , there are risks that the water will get polluted. So the private treatment station have to build pipes to connect these to the mains drainage. It costs about 5000 euros in the town and more in the countryside.

When people build a house and there is a main sewer, they have to be connected..

But when people live in an isolated place , they would like to be connected to the mains sewers . The station is not allowed to build pipes because it is too far and too expensive. So people have to manage to build this system themselves .

In order for the pipes not to freeze , they bury them deep under the ground about 1 or 4.5 meters. Besides when people use water, there is circulation. So it cannot freeze. In addition if it has been snowing on this before, the pipes do not freeze.

The station does not control the system at people's homes . It is the work of another private company.

Besides when the pipes are in a lake or under water where people can swim, the station has to take much care. They have to control every cubic meter if there are leaks because the water can become polluted and it can cause a disaster.

Next to the lake, they have to control the pressure. The entering pressure has to be the same as the out going pressure. Precisely it has to be the same all the way.

This treatment station is a monopoly in this region because the firm gather , the gas, the electricity, water …
