The swedish police in a local hockey game
During our week in Sweden, my friends and I had to focus our researches on the swedish police. For example, we have interviewed some people on subjects as the presence of the local police. Moreover, we tried to count how much policemen we found around us but we did not see many policemen or their cars apart from the friday night for the hockey game.
Some swedish correspondents had decided to take us seeing a hockey game. Just few of us had already seen one so it was a wonderful idea ! And almost the entire group who worked on the police had the chance to participate so it was an opportunity for us to extend the scope of our researches.
This game was more than a simple hockey game : first, it has been long-awaited for Linköping citizens and it had an important stake. Indeed, the team which would win the game would be qualified for the first league champion. Moreover, this friday the fight was between the team from Linköping who had already met the team from Norrköping so it was really exciting.
As soon as we arrived in the stadium, the first thing we have seen was the large number of policemen (but unfortunately we did not have enough time to count them). Indeed, this game was so important that they were there to prevent supporters from doing overflowings.
In order to enter in the stadium, we had to queue. It was a bit long because a policeman was there checking if we were carrying something dangerous. The suspected one has also to follow other policemen who will check better.
Then, we saw a lot of policemen indoors keeping under surveillance the hockey area. We were placed in the supporters part of the stadium where there was a great atmosphere ! But it was also the place the most kept under surveillance because sometimes fans can express insulting sentiments. However, everything went perfectly and we had so much fun !
After the game, I rejoined my correspondent's father and asked him if the police is always present at these special occasions. He answered of course, like in France, they must be there in order to protect everyone if things are not going well. Moreover, fans are sometimes a bit violent especially when their team has lost.
To conclude, we saw the swedish police in a case of protecting people from overflowings. In France, it is the same for football games and so on.
