Astrid is a famous Swedish author  . For example she  wrote Fifi Brindacier, Pippi Langstrump in Swedish.  She was born on November 14th, 1907 in Näs, near Vimmerby (Sweden) and she died January 28th, 2002.

Her parents were farmers. She had a happy childhood with her three brothers and sisters. She studied at the University of Vimmerby.

However, Sweden was very religious and conformist and formalist at the time. And, in Sweden, at the time, having no husband and being pregnant was outrageous, shocking.

Then, she went to stockolm where she trained to become a secretary.

She started to write for her daughter. In 1904, she decided to publish a collection these stories. She would have loved to publish a collection for her daughter Karin's birthday . The first editor refused. But editions Raben and Sjogren of Stockholm accepted.This collection was initially criticized but subsequently especially popular with children.
