Selma Lagerlöf

Selma Lagerlöf (1858–1940) was a Swedish author. She was the first female writer to win the Nobel Prize in Literature. She was also the first woman to be elected at the Swedish Academy in 1914.

 She wrote about forty books, including the children's book Nils Holgerssons underbara resa genom Sverige (The Wonderful Adventures of Nils).

She worked as a teacher at a girls school in Landskrona in 1885 to 1895.

The family domain was sold in 1887. The success  her books brought her  made it possible to realize her dream, buy the family domain in 1910.
